He stood stunned on the steps
head back, eyes shaded, as she lept
Mouth open in disbelief as she plummeted
Hand reaching out as if it could have stunted
the fall...
Stepping off smiling at the world
As her auburn hair swirled
Around her lovely face
She fell with grace
Nearly diving hands out at her sides
Joy etched on her face, still smiling wide
...
When the ground neared
When the moment feared
Was being born
A cry to stop was torn
From the only witness there
...
something unbelievable happened
Her body did not land
She did not get flattened
for those arms became wings, so grand!
and she leapt into the sky
Dazzling his poor foggy mind
She flew away Laughing at his foolish cry
He'd just never before seen her kind
