In The Beginning
In the beginning there was only the land and the sky. The First Tree came to be. The land was beautiful but empty, so She brought forth the first plants. These She called trees. The land was beautiful but lonely, so She brought forth the first animals. The animals prospered and brought Her joy, but She longed for a different type of companionship. In time, She created the first Elves, and She was never lonely again, and the lands prospered and grew.
One day, this bountiful land was noticed by another. One who did not wish to see such beauty in the world. One who will always go nameless among the elves of Elfhome. It was he who sent forth the first enemies, to rest away the lands from the First Tree. During this terrible war, one among the Elves made himself known. He led the elves to victory against the enemies, and brought peace once more to the land. He was called Aradin among those who followed him. They pleaded with the First Tree to allow Aradin to be a leader amomg the elves, and establish a bond between them and the lands to keep it safe from its enemies. After considering their request, The First Tree summoned Aradin to her. When he came to her She touched him with one of Her branches and filled him with the knowledge of all things in the Forest. Aradin fell to his knees with the impact of all he was suddenly aware of. For many day's The stricken Elf knelt before The First Tree. Not moving, nor eating or resting. When the 9 day had passed Aradin awoke from his trance and stood on shakey legs. His once light colored hair, now the deep red brown of the earth beneath his feet. His eyes the color of a forest pool, instead of the grey he once had. His name forever changed, to Aradan, First Ruler.

I love this. It brings such vivid mental images of the first tree, and the beautiful landscape...
